Probation Institutions
Juvenile Supervision is the support given by a Probation Officer to a child offender serving a community sentence to minimise the risk of re-offending and ensuring public safety, all in the best interest of the child.
For juvenile offenders whose home environment is not conducive for their immediate return, committal to a Probation Hostel is preferred as a measure of last resort.
Probation Hostels provide temporary accommodation to juvenile offenders where, under close supervision, basic needs, vocational training and formal education is provided.
During the offender’s stay at the Hostel, Probation Officers adjust the home environment for eventual release.
Upon release from a Probation Hostel, further supervision is provided by a Probation Officer as the child offender continues to serve their sentence in the community.
